The effect of gender, age, bodyweight, height and body mass index on plantar soft tissue stiffness

چکیده
Introduction Foot abnormality has become a public health concern. Early detection of pathological soft tissue is hence an important preventive measure, especially to the elderly who generally have a higher risk of foot pathology (i.e. ulceration). However, the management of plantar tissue stiffness data is questionable. The objective of this study is to assess the influence of gender and physical attributes such as height, weight and BMI on plantar soft tissue stiffness. It is also to evaluate whether it is necessary to isolate the differences in gender, age, bodyweight, height and body mass index in the data analysis procedure.

Prediction of plantar soft tissue stiffness based on gender, age, bodyweight, height and body mass index
15% of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) patients suffer high risk of ulceration and 85% of the amputation involving DM population is caused by non-healing ulcers. These findings elucidate the fact that foot ulcer can result in major amputation especially to the DM and elderly population. Therefore, early diagnosis of abnormally stiffened plantar soft tissue is needed to prevent the catastrophic tissue da...

Introduction: Research shows a relationship between diabetes (type II) and obesity. Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) is a relatively new and approved method for the measurement of body composition. The aim of this study was to compare diabetic and non-diabetic adults on the basis of waist-hip ratio, total fat, percentage of fat, trunk fat, and soft lean mass. Methods: In this cross-sec...

متن کاملInvestigating the Effect of Plantar Pressure Distribution Pattern on the Occurrence of Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome in Military Soldiers during Military Training
Introduction: Medial tibial stress syndrome is one of the most common musculoskeletal injuries among soldiers. However, there has not been a detailed report on the effect of risk-factors on its occurrence including the distribution of plantar pressure in military personnel and different communities. For this reason, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of plantar pressure dist...
